The globally-recognized certification program for Sales professionals optimizes their marketing and revenue management skills as they keep up with evolving sales techniques and strategies in the industry.
The awarding of certificates and pinning ceremony were held during the HRSMA’s annual induction and renewal of membership at the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao last July 26, 2019.
Representatives from 20 hotels and resorts out of 33 member properties were all in attendance for the mid-year event, well prepared with the support of some of Davao’s trusted suppliers – Pachadas Event Styling and Limitless Catering Services. Among the honorable guests were Regional Director of DOT XI, Tanya Rabat-Tan; Executive Director of Asia World Hospitality, Machi Borja; Executive Chair of MICE Davao, Kennedy Kapulong; Property Heads and Sales Directors.
When asked about the importance of getting certified through a testimonial, Francis Morales expressed “the professional certification demonstrates a higher level of competence in a field as dynamic as Sales”. Carmela Olipas, another awardee, mentioned some key takeaways from the training including having the right attitude
as a Salesperson. She said “success happens when preparation meets opportunity” and thanked the DOT, HRSMA and Asia World Hospitality for this development in her Sales career.
Francis, Carmela and 21 other awardees make the first ever group of Certified Hotel Sales Professionals in the Philippines per Asia World Hospitality, AHLEI’s official partner and representative in the country. The grant was given to DOT-accredited members of the Davao HRSMA, which in a way urges other hospitality businesses to comply for accreditation to enjoy tourism incentives.
For HRSMA, a new set of officers has also been selected as follows: Jennifer Romero, President; Jennyflor Lopez, Vice President; Jessica Angela Segurra, Secretary; Katrin Angela Piquit, Treasurer; Liza Gamo, Program and Trainings Officer; Mia Echevarria, Public Relations Officer; DyanMagaso, Ways and Means Officers; and Kathleen Namuag, Trustee and Past President.
In her closing message, HRSMA President and Re-Elect Jennifer Romero stated that “Davao’s competitive but collaborative industry will continue to face more challenges in the future, but it is reassuring that we shall conquer them a unified and hopeful force.”
