Our very short stay in Roxas didn’t permit us from having our Roxas City Tour. This is because we chose to get roasted under the sun most of the time and lost track of our timelines.
Which I think is the very essence of all this wanderlust we all have “To enjoy, and create lifetime memories while losing track of time .”
So instead, we went directly to Sta Monica Parish Church in Panay to check the largest church bell in the Philippines & in Asia, and third biggest in the world. Unfortunately, we were late because the church closes at 4:30pm. Instead, we made most of our time taking pictures of the replica and the church’s Neo Classical Baroque facade.
Continuing our Roxas City Tour, our guide, Kuya Ruel made a stopover in Banika Port where we bought Dried Fishes cheaper than in Taboan Market, Cebu. Banika Port is also the original jump-off to Olotayan Island using the passenger boat but since we had chosen to follow our own pace we hired a chartered boat.
It was already dusk when we came back to the city proper and had to call it a day because the establishments were already closed .
Of course, we want to acknowledge EazyTraveler’s Post: DIY Walking Tour – Roxas City as well as Capiznon.Org which we used as a reference to our Roxas City Tour.
You can contact Kuya Ruel at +63 9306 458 854 for City Tour around Roxas using his tricycle and pre arrange the boat rental to Olotayan Island via Punta Cogon. He charges a minimal fee of Php40/passenger to/from Punta Cogon and Php100/passenger for Roxas City Tour.
